THE PRINTMAKING PROCESS
  • I start with a drawing of the image I plan to carve, keeping in mind that the final image will appear reversed.
  • Then I make a list of the colors I'm going to use, from lightest to darkest
  • I trace or draw the image onto the board or linoleum, then:
  • I carve away the areas where I want the paper to show without color.
  • I print the paper with the lightest color using oil-based inks in the total number of editions for that particular print. My maximum edition is limited to 25 prints.
  • As the prints are drying, I carve away the areas where I want that color to remain.
  • I repeat this process for every color to complete the image.
  • Once the process is completed, the wood or linoleum block can never be used again.
